Sehsüchte - 45th International Student Film Festival Filmuniversity Babelsberg

20.4. – 24.4.2016

The 2016 program was international, varied, colorful and - true to the motto S.P.A.C.E. - galactically good! Due to the first-time possibility of online submission, there were about 3500 films, from which 114 were selected for the festival. Among them, for the first time, exceptional genre films were shown in the new section 'Best Genre Film'. The Writing Addictions program included 5 screenplays and 5 exposés.

A top-class jury of experts, a children and youth jury as well as the student pitch jury finally decided on the lucky winners in a total of 13 sections.
75 national and international film teams came to Babelsberg to present their films and made Sehsüchte 2016 a real 'world space'.

Under the motto S.P.A.C.E., Sehsüchte 2016 wanted to create 'space' - for encounters, creativity, tolerance and the passion for films. The festival campus: A place to take off and take off! So not only were all the film blocks in this year's program named after planets and constellations, but also the Film University was transformed into a giant spaceship for 5 days with extravagant scenography, spacy details and exciting light installations.

Sehsüchte 2016 started with the ceremonial opening at the fx.Center on the Babelsberg studio lot as well as a convivial reception at the Filmuniversität. Over the course of the week, the numerous visitors were able to stretch their legs at the traditional soccer tournament as well as during guided tours of the university and the studio grounds. A special highlight was the foosball tournament, which was held for the first time!

Numerous workshops dealt with topics that move the industry, including crowdfunding, distribution and world sales. A virtual reality workshop took the participants into completely new worlds, and the kick-off panel 'Space for Race' provided plenty of material for discussion.

Before the student-glamorous award ceremony on Sunday, where the winners were awarded the coveted Sehsüchte flame, there was a big party on Saturday evening in the Lindenpark: The big Sehsüchte party took place here in a completely relaxed atmosphere!
